The soil is sandy loam and optimal for growing coffee. The coffees are shade grown in sourundings of ect. Guaba trees.
We love shade grown coffees this tend to give the plants optimal conditions for the coffee flowers and cherries to mature slowly and thereby having an even higher quality. At the same time this is a great way of insuring a more optimal biodiversity to the benefit of both the plants and wildlife.
“La Bendición” and Luis are part of a family business that has been producing coffee for four generations. In 2007, Luis started to participate in
Cup of Excellence but it is in 2018 that he took the first place with a Pacamara natural scoring 91.8. He repeated his feat in 2020 taking again the
1st of the CEO with, this time, a Maracaturra. Luis said” “We humbly receive this award in the name of Nicaragua farmers. We represent small
farmers in Nicaragua, and we know their effort and everything that must be done in order to produce these coffees” . Luis Alberto Valladares
believes that they are many aspect contributing in the quality of a coffee. Some beyond our control such as the weather and the temperatures.
Others can be controlled and play a crucial role such as the fermentation and the drying. Lui is also playing with the lunar phases : “it is hard to
say ‘this is the perfect process or step. You can only estimate and experiment. Our goal is to compete with ourselves making our quality better
day by day.”
